How do you deal with remote threats or malicious attacks from bad actors?
In cybersecurity, the answers are pretty straightforward:
- Use a secure, reliable gateway like a reputable firewall or proxy to filter out outside threats.
- Block any connections from known malicious sources.
- Keep your security tools patched and updated.
Over time, I’ve realized these best practices apply just as well outside the digital world.
In life, too, you need to watch for warning signs and never ignore them. Trust no one blindly; always verify. Surround yourself with good people, and steer clear of those with questionable character. Give access to your trust sparingly, the same way you’d apply the principle of least privilege.
And if all else fails, and you take a hit? Have a backup plan. Pick yourself up, recover, and move forward.
Whether online or offline, resilience is the best defense.
