January 31 marks the 119th death anniversary of Saint John Bosco—the “Father and Teacher of Youth” and founder of the Salesians of Don Bosco.

For me, this is more than a date in history. It is a reminder of who I am and where I come from. I am, and always will be, a proud Bosconian.

I spent most of my formative years in Bosconian halls: grade school and high school at Don Bosco Academy in Pampanga, then Computer Engineering at Don Bosco Technical College in Mandaluyong. Beyond academics, these places shaped my values: discipline, resilience, and the dignity of work.

This identity is not mine alone. It runs through my family as well. The “brothers four,” our uncles, cousins, and even Conne’s cousins – all carry the Bosconian mark. You never say someone was a Bosconian. Once you are, you carry it for life.

That’s why I smile when I think of the future. My son CJ may someday walk the same path, carrying the same badge of pride.

Saint John Bosco’s legacy lives on in generations of students who learned not just skills, but values that last a lifetime. It lives on in families like mine, where being a Bosconian is more than education, it’s identity.
