About PJ Bacolod

With over 25 years in the tech trenches, my career has been a journey from one side of the table to the other. I started as a vendor – building and selling IT solutions – before transitioning to the client side, where I now lead the cybersecurity and network teams that protect critical operations.

This dual perspective has taken me from offshore platforms to corporate boardrooms, navigating the high-stakes world where technology, operations, and resilience converge. Growing up as an Air Force brat instilled in me the values of courage, discipline, and legacy – principles that have become the bedrock of my approach to leadership, crisis management, and innovation.

Beyond the certifications and job titles, my life’s mission has sharpened. My social life has dwindled, but my parenting life has grown. I may not be a trendsetter for others to follow suit, but I strive to be a role model for my children to emulate.

Life, like any complex system, requires constant adaptation. The curveballs—diabetes, salt-and-pepper hair, and all—are reminders that true resilience isn’t just about technology. It’s about how we, as people, adapt, lead, and grow through every challenge.

About www.PJBacolod.tech

I started this journey on Blogger back in 2004 – a time of fewer gray hairs and simpler tech challenges. What began as a personal project has since evolved into PJB: Tales of a Tech Shark.

The name is a nod to “Sharkey,” my long-time handle across web forums and gaming platforms. It’s a fitting evolution, because after 25+ years in technology – navigating the waters as both a vendor and an IT & Cybersecurity leader – I’ve learned you need to bite through complexity to get to what matters.

Here, we dive deep into the professional challenges at the intersection of IT, OT, and cybersecurity. But technology is only half the story. You’ll also find personal reflections on parenting, legacy, and navigating life’s constant change. I believe the lessons that build resilient people are the same ones that build resilient systems.

Whether you’re here for a technical insight or a human story, my goal is the same: to share something valuable from the journey. Welcome aboard.
